Start your seedlings in Planket Pots

Planket Pots are made from 100% Australian wool and provide a biodegradable alternative to small plastic nursery pots.

Simply fill each Planket Pot approximately three-quarters full with seed-raising mix, gently tap the pot to create a flat base and plant your seeds or young seedlings.

The wool helps hold moisture around the growing medium while providing some insulation around the developing root zone.

Once the roots begin to grow through the wool, the entire Planket Pot can be planted directly into the garden or a larger container. There is no need to remove the seedling from the pot, helping reduce disturbance to the young roots during transplanting.

Once planted beneath the soil, the wool pot will begin to naturally break down. Under normal garden conditions, the pot generally biodegrades below the soil within approximately four to six weeks.

Continue growing with Aussie Wool Pellets

When your seedlings are ready to be planted out, Aussie Wool Pellets can be mixed through the surrounding soil.

Wool naturally contains nitrogen, along with smaller amounts of potassium and sulphur. As the pellets gradually break down, soil microorganisms help make these nutrients available to plants.

Unlike fast-acting fertilisers that provide one sudden burst of nutrients, wool pellets work gradually within the soil. They act as a slow-release fertiliser while also adding organic matter and helping support soil structure.

Wool can absorb and retain moisture, allowing the pellets to hold water within the soil around the roots. This does not replace regular watering, but it can help the soil make better use of the moisture it receives.

One kilogram of Aussie Wool Pellets can treat up to 25 square metres when mixed through the soil.

How to use the Start and Grow Garden Bundle

Begin by filling your Planket Pots with seed-raising mix.

Plant your chosen flower, vegetable or herb seeds and water them as required.

Keep the pots in a suitable growing position until the seedlings are established and roots begin to appear through the wool.

Prepare the garden bed or larger container before planting.

Place the entire Planket Pot into the soil without removing the plant. Make sure the top of the wool pot is level with or just beneath the surrounding soil.

Mix a small amount of Aussie Wool Pellets through the soil around the planting area, then water everything in well.

The Planket Pot supports your seedling as it begins, while the Aussie Wool Pellets continue feeding and conditioning the soil as the plant grows.
